Established in 2023, WISustain is a group of passionate West Island School students who come together as a student body to advocate for global issues surrounding environmental sustainability and plan impactful events for the WIS community, now a chapter of the ESF Sustainability Alliance.
WISustain is honoured to be a member of The Alliance for Sustainable Schools (TASS), an organisation that supports our school's commitment to sustainability. The membership enables us to collaborate with other schools and share successes in environmental advocacy.
Over the past few years, WISustain has successfully advocated for environmental issues through various successful initiatives, such as Call to Earth Day, Eco Week, an environmental stall at the Christmas Fair, recycling campaigns and environmental workshops.
WISustain works closely with other WIS organisations, for example, the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), to reach a broader audience and to elevate our initiatives. Together, we aim to create a more sustainable school environment. In particular, at the PTA Bazaar, WISustain focused on ensuring that the negative environmental impacts from the processes and outcomes of the event were reduced as much as possible.
We aim to expand our impact. We are committed to creating a variety of new initiatives and helping the wider community. Through these actions, WISustain strives to inspire the community and contribute to a more sustainable future for us all.
