Without the support of the school community and, in particular, the teachers who led the Most Competitive Pathway programme (MCP), I would have not come close to achieving my higher education goals. They noticed the potential and guided me towards a destination that I never thought was possible.

🕵️‍♂️Uncovering Histories: Students Dive into Genealogy with 'Who Do You Think You Are?' CAS Activity 📜

CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) activities at West Island School are one of the ways we provide personalised education to each and every student. ✨

One of these activities is a new one called "Who Do You Think You Are?", based on the BBC programme of the same name. In this show, genealogists research the family history behind different celebrities and present it to them. But instead of celebrities, students participating in this CAS activity will work in pairs to find out more about the genealogy behind school staff members.

🌿 Our Year 7 students participated in a Sustainable Swap lesson yesterday, thanks to our amazing Design and Technology department! 🌟 This initiative encouraged students to bring in items they no longer use, promoting reuse, repurposing, and recycling. ♻️

Through this activity, students gained valuable insights into the product life cycle, from creation to disposal. They learned about the shared responsibility of designers and consumers in protecting our planet and making sustainable choices at every stage. 🌍✨
