The House System here at West Island School is a way of creating a family spirit amongst our students - but also fostering cooperation and, yes, competition.
At West Island School the houses are named after Chinese Dynasties to reflect our Hong Kong heritage. Each student will be allocated to a Dynasty and will remain in the same Dynasty for their entire time at the school. The six Dynasties are Han, Ming, Qing, Song, Tang and Yuan.
Interdisciplinary Learning (IDL)
Interdisciplinary Learning (IDL) Units empower students to explore meaningful questions, build resilience and take ownership of their learning journey. Through collaboration, reflection and real-world application, students develop essential skills that prepare them for future academic and personal growth. IDL Week is a powerful experiential learning experience that shows how learning can extend far beyond the classroom walls at West Island School.

Student Leadership
While not every one of our students will want to be a leader - either in school or later in life, we recognise that leadership skills are important to all of us as we lead our lives. There are a variety of ways in which our young people can get involved, manage and lead either in the school or in the community.
