The House System here at West Island School is a way of creating a family spirit amongst our students - but also fostering cooperation and, yes, competition.
At West Island School the houses are named after Chinese Dynasties to reflect our Hong Kong heritage. Each student will be allocated to a Dynasty and will remain in the same Dynasty for their entire time at the school. The six Dynasties are Han, Ming, Qing, Song, Tang and Yuan.
Experiential Learning
At West Island School, we emphasise experiential learning as a key element of our educational approach. This method encourages students to engage directly with their environment, enhancing understanding through hands-on experiences. Our supportive framework fosters strong relationships and a sense of belonging, which are essential for personal and academic growth.

Student Leadership
While not every one of our students will want to be a leader - either in school or later in life, we recognise that leadership skills are important to all of us as we lead our lives. There are a variety of ways in which our young people can get involved, manage and lead either in the school or in the community.
