As an IB World School, we prepare our students to achieve their personal best through a world-class education tailored to each of their potential and needs.
As part of the English Schools Foundation(ESF), our students are supported by the largest English-medium international school organisation in Hong Kong, providing them the resources and opportunities not found outside of ESF Schools.
West Island School's Years 7 to 9 follow the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), offering a challenging and practical learning framework that supports students' transition and integration into the secondary school community, building a solid foundation of critical thinking and global mindedness for the middle and senior years.
In Years 10 and 11, West Island School offers a common curriculum and elective subjects, preparing students for I/GCSE exams while providing guidance for future pathways both local and abroad.
In Years 12 and 13, West Island School offers three pathways, the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP), the IB Career-related Programme (IBCP), BTEC, and the International Diploma to give students agency in their studies based on their learning style and aspirations while fostering a well-rounded and global-minded outlook through leadership and community involvement.

Without the support of the school community and, in particular, the teachers who led the Most Competitive Pathway programme (MCP), I would have not come close to achieving my higher education goals. They noticed the potential and guided me towards a destination that I never thought was possible.

WIS has been an incredible place of growth and learning for both my boys, who have different strengths and interests and yet have thrived both academically and personally under the positive and inclusive system of the school, where every child is nurtured, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

What's New at WIS?
Our student athletes had an unforgettable experience under the Cirque du Soleil Big Top. They participated in a lively fireside chat with gymnastics legend @simonebiles, a remarkable athlete with 41 international medals, including seven Olympic golds.
Our students were deeply inspired by Simone’s journey and the dedication required to reach such heights. They took home valuable insights, including the importance of setting both short- and long-term goals, enjoying the process, working hard and nurturing a healthy body and mind to become the best version of themselves.
On Tuesday, our WISustain students proudly showcased their impressive achievements at the Coffee Morning hosted by our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).
Led by Year 10 students Ojaswini Virmani and Romy Fremder, they delivered confident and articulate presentations on their ongoing initiatives, highlighting key accomplishments, future goals and innovative ideas supported by thoughtful research. The students also offered a lively Q&A session, welcoming feedback and responding to questions with enthusiasm and insight.
As a final highlight, the students hosted a fun and interactive quiz that brought together parents, teachers and staff in a spirited and educational activity.

A warm Welcome to 2025-2026 Year 7 Students!
Last week, we were delighted to welcome Year 6 students from across ESF and other primary schools as they prepare to join our Year 7 cohort in August.
Over two exciting days, the students experienced life as WIS learners - actively participating in taster lessons, following our timetable, and perhaps most enjoyably, exploring the campus and sampling food from the canteen. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and purpose, with positive feedback from both students and their parents.
We were also honoured to be joined on Wednesday by the CEO of ESF, Belinda Greer. She warmly welcomed the students and visited several of their lessons. It was truly inspiring to witness the dedication and collaboration of our staff and teachers in shaping this transition experience.
We look forward to welcoming our new Year 7 students back in August as they continue their journey with us!
